Restylane®

As we age, our faces naturally lose subcutaneous fat. The facial muscles are then working closer to the skin surface, so smile lines and crow's feet become more apparent. The facial skin also stretches a bit, adding to this loss of facial volume. Other factors that affect the facial skin include sun exposure, heredity and lifestyle. Dermal fillers help to diminish facial lines and restore volume and fullness in the face and can be very helpful in those with early signs of aging, or as a value-added part of facial rejuvenation surgery.

At Protea Medispa we use Restylane®, by Galderma which replaces lost volume to smooth away wrinkles and define facial contours providing immediate results. Restylane is a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid that is specifically formulated to act like your body's own naturally produced hyaluronic acid. Restylane can be used to visibly reduce moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles and folds, can be used to improve the skin's contour and reduce depressions in the skin due to scars, injury or lines.

You can see potentially dramatic improvements for:

  • Cheek depressions

  • Crow's feet at the corner of your eyes

  • Plumping thin lips

  • Deep smile lines (side of the nose to corners of the mouth)

  • Frown lines between the eyebrows

  • Marionette lines at the corners of the mouth

  • Redefining lip border

  • Scars including burns, acne and those caused by wounds

  • 'Smoker's lines'; vertical lines on the mouth

  • Worry lines that run across your forehead

  • Enhancing shallow contours

  • Soften facial creases and wrinkles

  • Reconstruct contour deformities in the face

Skin Boosters

Skin Boosters are micro-injections of dermal fillers in the skin.  They are very fine dermal fillers that are injected into the skin improve skin quality and to hydrate. This type of dermal filler can be injected over areas of the face, neck, and hands to increase the skin’s hydration quality. The result is healthy-looking, glowing and plump skin.

Benefits of the skin booster treatment:

  •  Dermal fillers used are very fluid, so the final result is smooth.

  • With the production of new collagen and elastin, patients can expect firmer and more youthful skin.

  • Suitable for most patients and skin types. Gold standard skin hydrator for radiant and glowing skin.

The dermal fillers that are used in skin booster treatments are non-cross-linked fillers. Cross-links are bonds between the chains of molecules that form the dermal filler. Dermal fillers without cross-linking are very fluid and less viscous and may be suited to skin injections. Unlike cross-linked fillers, they produce no lift. Therefore, they also produce no lumping in the final result (although there may be some temporary small lumps visible initially after the treatment). The fillers are injected into the papillary dermis where fibroblasts are housed. Fibroblast stimulation by injection of the filler causes new collagen and elastin formation in the skin. The depth of injection can be modulated by the injecting gun used.
